abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To analyze a high molecular weight substance having a sugar chain with high accuracy by removing low molecular weight sugars in a sample. A method for analyzing a high molecular weight substance in a sample containing a high molecular weight substance having a sugar chain and a low molecular weight saccharide is provided. In this method, after removing low molecular weight sugars from a sample, the sample is provided to a sugar chain analysis apparatus. Preferably, in the low molecular weight saccharide removal step, the sample is ultrafiltered, the low molecular weight saccharide-degrading enzyme is allowed to act on the sample to degrade the low molecular weight saccharide, or the low molecular weight saccharide capture reagent is allowed to act on the sample. To remove the low molecular weight saccharide. By performing analysis such as mass spectrometry using a sample from which low molecular weight saccharide has been removed, it is possible to analyze sugar chains of high molecular weight substances with high accuracy.
