titleOfInvention | Collagen synthesis inhibitor containing short peptide as active ingredient and method for producing the same |
abstract | An object of the present invention is to provide a highly safe collagen synthesis inhibitor that does not affect cell proliferation. It has been found that short-chain peptides containing glycine and proline have a selective collagen synthesis inhibitory effect. When the influence of these peptides on cell proliferation was examined, these peptides did not affect cell proliferation, but specifically inhibited only collagen synthesis. Furthermore, in a rat cirrhosis model, these peptides improved serum GOT and GPT levels and suppressed liver collagen deposition. The peptide identified by the present inventor can be used as a collagen synthesis inhibitor, and is considered to be particularly useful as a medicament with few side effects for the prevention and treatment of fibrotic diseases including cirrhosis.
