PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of obtaining an optical film having excellent thickness accuracy when an optical film made of an amorphous thermoplastic resin film is produced by melt extrusion molding. In manufacturing an optical film by extruding an amorphous thermoplastic resin, a film extruded from a die attached to an extruder is closely attached to a cooling roll using an elastically deformable touch roll. When making the contact width between the touch roll and the cooling roll at the time of non-rotating the radius of the touch roll as r, the film is made into the cooling roll by the touch roll so that it is in the range of r / 100 mm to 5r / 100 mm.
