To provide a guide wire that is excellent in flexibility and operability, and particularly excellent in torque transmission in any rotation direction. A guide wire (1) is composed of a linear first wire (2) arranged on the distal end side and a material having a higher elastic modulus than that of the constituent material of the first wire (2). The wire main body 10 including the linear second wire 3 and the multilayer coil portion 5 installed so as to cover the outer periphery of the joint portion 14 between the first wire 2 and the second wire 3. The multi-layer coil unit 5 includes a first coil wound in a spiral shape, a second coil wound around the outer periphery of the first coil in a direction opposite to the first coil, and an outer periphery positioned opposite to the second coil. And a third coil wound in a spiral direction. The first coil is fixed to the outer peripheral surface of the wire body 10 with, for example, an adhesive. A coating layer 6 is formed on the outer periphery of the wire body 10. [Selection] Figure 1 |
