abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective method for testing periodontal disease and a reagent used for the method. By examining periodontal disease using the presence of histatin as a marker. Specifically, by using an anti-histatin antibody, more specifically, an antibody that recognizes a specific sequence contained in a polypeptide that constitutes histatin, histatin can be measured, and the association with periodontal disease is supported. Results were obtained. The test using an antibody can be measured by a known technique such as ELISA. As an example of an antibody capable of measuring histatin, it is produced from a hybridoma with the deposit number FERM P-19392 (deposited at the Patent Organism Depositary, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology as of June 12, 2003) A monoclonal antibody (H5-955A) can be mentioned.
