Novel fluorescent gene fragments and fish |
abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce these ornamental fish by a method that provides a variety of choices for aquarium fish and that is much faster and cheaper than sequential execution of gene recombination techniques. The present invention relates to a novel gene fragment, a method for producing a transgenic fish derived from the gene fragment, and a novel transgenic fish produced by the method. The present invention further relates to a novel method for producing a new ornamental fish by mating a transgenic fish with a fish having a phenotype or behavioral pattern different from that of the transgenic fish. The resulting transgenic fish exhibits different phenotypes and behavioral patterns from each of the parents. The present invention also provides a novel ornamental fish produced by the above method.
