abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple method for producing a 2-alkyl substituted indane derivative. To a compound represented by general formula (3) by reacting a compound represented by general formula (1) and a benzaldehyde derivative represented by general formula (2) in the presence of an acid or a base. The 2-alkyl-substituted indane represented by the general formula (5) is converted by removing the hydroxyl group and converting it to a compound represented by the general formula (4). After cyclization, the carbonyl group is removed. A method for producing a derivative is provided. [Chemical 1] [Selection figure] None
