PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel activation reagent. A photoactivatable reagent useful as a chain transfer reagent for supplying a semi-telechelic polymer having one or more terminal photoactivatable groups is provided. The reagent provides one or more photoactivatable groups and one or more sulfhydryl groups (or other chain transfer groups), wherein the photoactivatable groups and chain transfer groups are optionally spacer groups. Are linked together. The reagent can be used to prepare the polymer by acting to initiate the polymerization of the ethylenically unsaturated monomer. [Selection figure] None |
