titleOfInvention | Block copolymer and method for producing the same |
abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer useful for various uses such as optical use by modifying polyvinyl alcohol. A block copolymer composed of a polyvinyl alcohol component and a liquid crystal component is produced by radical polymerization of a liquid crystal monomer, particularly a nematic liquid crystal monomer, in the presence of polyvinyl alcohol having chain transfer ability at the terminal. In particular, a block copolymer having the above-described structure in which the polyvinyl alcohol component is 20 to 99 wt% and the liquid crystal component is 80 to 1 wt% is produced.
