The present invention provides an economical method for producing a black toner in which the chargeability is hardly affected by a change in relative humidity. A latex emulsion containing a resin, water, and an ionic surfactant, a colorant dispersion containing a colorant, water, and an ionic surfactant, a wax, and water. And a wax dispersion containing an ionic surfactant, and the resulting mixture is heated to a temperature lower than about the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the latex resin in the presence of a coagulant. One of the coagulants is a source of calcium ions. And a step of heating to a temperature higher than near the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the latex resin. [Selection figure] None |
