PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing harmful exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine, wherein the amount of harmful substance emission in the exhaust gas is reduced as much as possible under the best possible operating conditions of the internal combustion engine and the NOx storage catalyst. In a regeneration process, in the method for reducing harmful exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine having a NOx storage catalyst, a reducing agent is variably supplied in time to empty the NOx storage body.
