abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pebble bed type fuel capable of improving the confinement function of fission products as compared with the prior art, ensuring higher safety and adapting to higher burnup, and a method for producing the same. A pebble bed type fuel for a high temperature gas reactor in which an outer shell layer made of a graphite material is formed on the outer surface of a spherical core in which a graphite material is used as a base material and a plurality of coated fuel particles are dispersed and contained in the base material. In the above, one or more intermediate coating layers formed on the surface of the spherical core are provided between the spherical core and the outer shell layer. [Selection] Figure 1
