PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP that suppresses deterioration of a phosphor over time, maintains high light emission efficiency even when driven for a long time, and has a stable and high image quality over time, and a method for manufacturing the same. A PDP 1 has a configuration in which a front panel 10 and a rear panel 20 are arranged to face each other, sealed at the outer periphery of each other, and a discharge space 30 is formed between the panels 10 and 20. Here, the blue phosphor layer 25B of the back panel 20 is made of an alkaline earth metal aluminate phosphor.
