PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable aqueous dispersion and a method for preparing a silicic acid dispersion without increasing the electrolyte content or the salt content. A stable aqueous dispersion can be obtained by containing at least two kinds of particles having an average diameter of less than 100 μm and chemically different. Preparation of a silicic acid dispersion characterized in that water and at least one particle chemically different from silicic acid are introduced first, after which silicic acid is added with added shear energy.
