[PROBLEMS] To obtain an optimum tensile strength with a minimum amount of a high tensile strength material, to achieve good nodule strength and safety, and to reduce the profile of a nodule in a living body over time, thereby enabling tissue in-growth. To provide a novel composite suture and suture anchor combination. A novel high tensile strength semi-absorbable composite suture, wherein non-absorbable material is minimized. The suture includes a core made of a bioabsorbable polymer. The core is covered by a knitted sheath. The knitted sheath consists of an absorbent yarn and a non-absorbable yarn. The bioabsorbable yarn is formed from at least one filament of a bioabsorbable polymer. The non-absorbable yarn is formed from at least one filament of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene.
