abstract To provide a canvas for a belt excellent in heat resistance, cold resistance, abrasion resistance, adhesive wear resistance and quietness, and a transmission belt using the same. SOLUTION: A canvas 14 provided at a frictional force acting portion of a transmission belt 10 includes a hydrogenated nitrile rubber in which an unsaturated carboxylic acid metal salt is dispersed in an uncrosslinked ethylene-α-olefin elastomer, and an organic as a crosslinking agent. The rubber composition mixed with the peroxide is dissolved in a solvent and immersed in a rubber treatment solution. [Selection] Figure 1
