abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas barrier composition and a gas barrier film having improved hot water resistance and having excellent gas barrier properties even under high humidity. The compound contains a compound (A) having two or more hydroxyl groups in the molecule, a polyvalent carboxylic acid (B) having a carboxyl group on each of consecutive 3 to 20 carbons, and an alkali compound (C). The mass ratio of the compound (A) to the polyvalent carboxylic acid (B) is in the range of (A) / (B) = 95/5 to 5/95, and the compound (A) and the polyvalent carboxylic acid (B) A gas barrier composition obtained by coating or impregnating a partially crosslinked composition (X) with a metal compound (Y).
