abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a planetary gear device having a long life even when used at high speed rotation under high temperature. A planetary gear device includes a pinion gear 3 meshed with a sun gear 1 and a ring gear 2 arranged concentrically, a pinion shaft 5 inserted through the center of the pinion gear 3 and rotatably supporting the pinion gear 3, and an inner peripheral surface of the pinion gear 3. And a plurality of rollers arranged so as to be able to roll between the raceway surface formed on the outer periphery and the raceway surface formed on the outer peripheral surface of the pinion shaft 5. In the central portion of the pinion shaft 5 in the axial direction, the amount of retained austenite of the surface layer is less than 15% by volume, and the end portion in the axial direction of the portion where the raceway surface of the pinion shaft 5 is formed is the residual of the surface layer.
