abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a block type liquid crystal polymer capable of improving the surface hardness of a liquid crystal film while maintaining the optical properties (orientation) of the liquid crystal polymer. Moreover, the liquid crystal polymer composition containing the said block type liquid crystal polymer is provided. The present invention also provides a liquid crystal film and a tilted alignment film obtained by forming the block type liquid crystal polymer or liquid crystal polymer composition. Furthermore, an optical film and an image display device using them are provided. A block comprising at least a liquid crystal monomer (a) unit, a non-liquid crystal monomer (b) unit having a long-chain alkyl group, and a crosslinkable monomer (c) unit, and comprising at least the crosslinkable monomer (c) unit.
