PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a modified catalyst for producing bisphenol A in which a strongly acidic ion exchange resin is not damaged, the strongly acidic ion exchange resin is uniformly modified, and excellent in catalyst performance. In a method for preparing a modified catalyst for producing bisphenol A, which is obtained by partially modifying a strongly acidic ion exchange resin with a sulfur-containing amine compound, the fixed bed reactor is filled with the strongly acidic ion exchange resin. When the strong acid ion exchange resin is denatured by injecting and circulating an aqueous solution containing an acid and a sulfur-containing amine compound, after the aqueous solution is injected or while circulating or temporarily stopped, the fixed bed is used. This is a method for preparing a modified catalyst for producing bisphenol A, in which an inert gas is bubbled from the lower part of the reactor and the strongly acidic ion exchange resin is stirred.
