The present invention provides an efficient method for producing fluorinated anilines important as synthetic intermediates for pharmaceuticals and agricultural chemicals. A chlorinated azobenzene is fluorinated with an ionic fluoride to form a fluorinated azobenzene, and then the fluorinated azobenzene is hydrolyzed and converted to a fluorinated aniline.
