abstract |
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) whose solubility in water changes sufficiently greatly with a small temperature change. SOLUTION: The above polymer having at least a part transesterified by allowing a transesterification reaction between a polyvinyl ester polymer and an alcohol in a reaction mixture containing a polyvinyl ester polymer, an alcohol and a basic compound. When the polyvinyl alcohol polymer is produced by further proceeding the transesterification reaction in the reaction mixture containing the polymer precipitated, the polymer that has been at least partially transesterified is precipitated. The temperature of the reaction mixture at the start is 75 ° C. or higher and 150 ° C. or lower. [Selection figure] None |
