PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for producing an aliphatic oligocarbonate diol by transesterifying dimethyl carbonate (DMC) with an aliphatic diol. The present invention relates to an ester by continuously introducing dimethyl carbonate into the liquid phase of a reaction mixture and continuously removing methanol formed as a gaseous methanol / dimethyl carbonate mixture from the reaction mixture by distillation. At the completion of the step of reacting dimethyl carbonate with the diol component at a pressure of 3 to 6 bar and a temperature of 100 to 200 ° C. in the presence of an exchange catalyst, and completion of continuous metering of dimethyl carbonate, the temperature of the reaction mixture is increased to 190 ° C.
