An index or absorptance modulation material, a three-dimensional optical recording medium, a three-dimensional refractive index modulation method, and a three-dimensional optical recording medium recording / reproducing method are provided. A two-photon absorption dye decolorizing material having at least a two-photon absorption dye and decoloring itself by two-photon absorption, and a three-dimensional refractive index or absorptivity modulation material using the same 3D optical recording medium, 3D refractive index modulation method, 3D optical recording medium recording / reproducing method.
