PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for manipulating a satiety caused by gastrointestinal passage of a substance in a mammal, whether the substance is food or a drug. The method includes the step of administering to the gastrointestinal tract by a direct route of delivery a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable formulation comprising a nutrient and a pharmacological therapeutic agent. The system of the present invention shifts from a normal intestinal sensor to small amounts of nutrients or nutrient derivatives to an essentially “stupid” body sensor that is normally not in contact with nutrients unless a very large amount is digested.
