Provided is a sealing device that can achieve both wear resistance and low frictional resistance at low cost, and contributes to improving reliability and fuel consumption by being mounted on, for example, an internal combustion engine for automobiles. The seal in the other member that is in sliding contact with a seal member attached to one of two members that are coaxially mounted so as to be relatively movable via a lubricating oil composition containing a specific ashless friction modifier. A coating of a hard carbon thin film such as diamond-like carbon is formed on the sliding contact surface with the member or further on the sliding contact surface of the seal member.
