abstract | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium for high density recording excellent in running stability and durability. In a magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer on one side of a support and a back layer on the opposite side, the back layer has a mass of carbon black and nonmagnetic needle-like powder having a Mohs hardness of 5 or more and less than 8. A magnetic recording medium comprising a ratio of 40/60 to 10/90, a polyurethane resin and an acrylic resin as a binder, wherein 10 to 50% of the total mass of the binder is an acrylic resin.
