abstract | The present invention relates to a method for synthesizing aldoses reduced in carbon by decarboxylation of aldonic acids to provide an industrial process which is excellent in yield, inexpensive and safe. In a method for producing aldoses reduced by 1 carbon from aldonic acids using hypochlorous acid or hypochlorite, hypochlorous acid is used rather than aldoses reduced by 1 carbon as a reaction product. A process for producing aldoses reduced by 1 carbon, characterized in that a compound having high reactivity with acid or hypochlorite is added to the reaction mixture. [Effect] By suppressing the overreaction of the product as much as possible, it is possible to provide an industrial process which is excellent in yield, inexpensive and safe.
