abstract | An image forming apparatus capable of suppressing deterioration due to film scraping of a latent image carrier while charging a latent image carrier by an alternating current method to improve image quality. As a power source of a charger 60 for uniformly charging a photoreceptor 18Y, a power supply that applies an AC charging bias including at least an AC component to a rotationally driven charging roller is used, and a developing sleeve 65 of a developing device 61 is used. As a power source for applying a developing bias, a power source for applying a DC developing bias consisting of only a DC component was used. As a result, the latent image carrier was charged by an alternating current method to improve the image quality, and deterioration of the latent image carrier due to film abrasion could be suppressed.
