The present invention provides a polymer that can be suitably used as a material for a member for a fuel cell that achieves both excellent ion conductivity and low fuel permeability. A sulfonated polymer comprising a binding unit represented by Formula 1. [Chemical 1] Here, in chemical formula 1, X represents H or a monovalent cation. Y represents an O atom or an S atom. Ar 1 represents a divalent aromatic group. In addition, this sulfonated polymer preferably contains the binding unit represented by Chemical Formula 1 in a range of 12% to 100% in terms of molar content in all the binding units.
