titleOfInvention Liquid crystal device and electronic device
abstract PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of switching between a reflective display and a transmissive display, using a relatively simple device configuration, without causing double reflection due to parallax or blurring of the display, and at the time of reflective display and transmission. Enables high-quality image display in both types. When a backlight 218 is turned on in a dark place, light source light passes through a gap between reflection layers 216 via a polarizing plate 208 and the like, so that transmissive display is performed. Since external light that has entered through the polarizing plate 205 or the like in a bright place is reflected by the reflective layer 216, a reflective display is performed. A transparent electrode 215 that is slightly larger than this is formed on the reflective layer 216, and the light source light that passes through the gap between the reflective layers 216 passes through the portion of the transparent electrode 215 that protrudes from the reflective layer 216.
