A method of recovering a commercial slaughter waste stream for use in the manufacture of a commercial pet food product, said method comprising commercial slaughter of an animal selected from the group consisting of mammalian cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry and fish. Later, the waste materials are collected; most of those materials are optionally ground and then heated; while the proteinaceous, lipid-like and aqueous fractions are substantially separated from one another. Subsequently disclosed are methods which use each of the proteinaceous, lipid-like and aqueous fractions for the production of commercial pet food or components thereof. |
