Disclosed is the use of Pin1 as a marker of abnormal cell growth. In certain embodiments, the method comprises detecting Pin1 levels to determine the stage of abnormal cell growth, such as breast or prostate cancer. In another embodiment, the method comprises assessing the effect of treating abnormal cell growth, such as cancer, by monitoring Pin1 levels. In another embodiment, the method comprises assessing the extent of metastasis of abnormal cell growth, such as cancer. Pin1 levels can be at the protein level or the nucleic acid level. |
