Compounds exhibiting anti-adhesion properties have been described. These compounds can be monomers or polymers. Methods for treating receptor-mediated diseases using the compounds of the invention are provided. Still other methods are provided for grain protection, medical equipment and pollution control. Novel anti-adhesion compounds for use on surfaces susceptible to adhesion by various biologics have been disclosed. Among these compounds are esters of coumaric acid, mixed esters of coumaric acid and zosteric acid, and several other compounds described in the examples. Such "anti-fouling" materials may be used by biologics on such surfaces to prevent biologic damage to such surfaces and to prevent the formation of biofilm on such surfaces. It can be used to prevent infection, to reduce the thrombogenicity of such surfaces, and for other uses that will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art. |
