abstract |
A sealing device having a housing that can be mounted on an elongate shaft with an axial lumen is disclosed. The sealing member defines a cavity and at least a portion is disposed within the housing. The cavity can move spherically with respect to the elongate shaft. The housing defines a passage communicating with the cavity and the axial lumen. An inner surface of the housing may form at least a portion of a passage configured to allow movement of the sealing member. The sealing member may be provided with one end forming a movable limit in the passage. The sealing member can be secured to a portion of the housing such that the cavity and a portion of the housing have a corresponding spherical motion relative to the elongate shaft. A sealing element at least partially disposed within the housing can movably support the sealing member. The sealing element cooperates with the inner surface of the housing to form at least a portion of the passage. |
