abstract | The present invention provides compositions and methods useful for identifying an orthosomycin biosynthetic gene cluster. Using the compositions of the present invention, such as PCR primers and hybridization probes, derived from a specific protein family involved in the unique structural features that distinguish orthosomycin, eveninomycin-type orthosomycin and aviramycin-type orthosomycin Thus, the orthosomycin gene cluster may be identified. An orthosomycin gene cluster may be identified using a composition of the invention, such as a sequence encoding a reference sequence, stored on a computer readable medium. |
