abstract The present invention provides a 17-phenyl-18,19,20-trinor-PGF 2.alpha and novel efficient method for the synthesis of a derivative containing the anti-glaucoma agent Bimatoprost and Latanoprost. The advantages of the present invention stem, inter alia, from the fact that the key intermediates involved in the synthesis of the compounds described above can be isolated by crystallization from mixtures which also contain undesired isomers. In addition, undesired isomers can be oxidized to give starting compounds that are then recycled.
