| abstract | A colorimeter capable of calibrating a color monitor is provided by a photometric arrangement of a photodetector (38) and an optical filter pair (50). The filter includes a long-pass, edge filter that covers an overlapping area at the upper end of the visible spectrum, and a filter that covers the entire visible spectrum. The output of the photodetector is digitally synthesized to provide a response that approximates the response established by the International Commission on Illumination {CIE} xyz {bar} function almost entirely. The simulated response may be represented by a CIE color matching function. The pair and associated components are mounted on a printed circuit board (32) encased in a clamshell housing and have an array of apertures defining an angularly restricted field of view of a light emitting surface. . |
