abstract | Provide organic porosity material ("SPM") including open cell foam in unlimited size and shape. These SPMs show minimal shrinkage and cracking. A process for preparing SPM that does not require supercritical extraction is also provided. These processes include sol-gel polymerization of hydroxylated aromatics in which at least one suitable electrophilic linking agent and at least one suitable solvent capable of reinforcing the sol-gel are present. Also disclosed are carbonized derivatives of organic SPM. |
