titleOfInvention Method for producing coated nanoparticles
abstract The present invention relates to nanoparticles having a carrier and a coating consisting of a polymeric material. The polymeric material contains functional groups to which metal ions are reversibly bound. The nanoparticles can be incorporated into plastics, and the resulting composition can produce unfinished products particularly suitable for medical use. Unfinished products, such as drainpipes or medical device inner coatings, release minute amounts of metal ions that have an antibacterial or bacteriostatic action upon contact with bodily fluids. Therefore, even when used for a long time, invasion of pathogens can be effectively suppressed.
