Screening method for detecting compounds that modulate the response of cells to UV exposure |
abstract |
The response of cells to UV exposure has been characterized at the molecular level using high density gene array technology. Nucleic acid and protein molecules whose expression has been suppressed or induced in response to UV exposure are identified by the temporal mutational expression pattern following UV exposure. A method is disclosed in which these molecules controlled by ultraviolet light are used as markers for exposure to ultraviolet light. Other screening methods of the invention are designed to identify compounds that modulate the response of cells to UV exposure. The present invention also provides compositions useful for drug screening or pharmaceutical purposes. |
