The present invention relates to a novel biphenyl derivative of the general formula (I) wherein R 4 represents an aromatic heterocycle, and a physiologically acceptable salt or solvate thereof. The compounds of the present invention are integrin inhibitors to overcome thrombosis, myocardial infarction, coronary heart disease, arteriosclerosis, inflammation, tumors, osteoporosis, infections and restenosis after angioplasty.
