abstract |
A diamond abrasive composite (60) formed from the coated diamond particles (10) and the matrix (22). The diamond (12) has a protective coating (14) formed from a refractory material having the composition MC x N y to protect the diamond from chemical attack by the base material (22). The diamond abrasive composite (60) may further include a penetrant such as a brazing material (40). Alternatively, the diamond abrasive composite (60) may include a plurality of coated diamond particles (10) and a braze (40) that fills voids between the coated diamond particles (10). Also disclosed is a method for producing such a diamond abrasive composite (60). [Selection] Figure 2 |
