abstract Improved sustained release drug delivery devices and methods of making such devices are disclosed. The device includes a drug core in an impermeable cup or impermeable coating layer, the impermeable cup or impermeable coating layer is attached to an uncured suture tab, and a permeable polymer coating layer ( This is similar to the configuration of the suturing tab). A permeable polymeric coating over the device covers the impermeable coating and at least a portion of the drug core and is cured (after drying) with the uncured suture tab. The "co-curing" or one-step curing process creates a very strong bond between the outer coating layer and the suturing tab and prevents leakage.
