Disclosed are 3,3'-substituted chiral biarylphosphines and phosphinite ligands and metal complexes based on such chiral ligands, which are useful in asymmetric catalysis. The metal complex is subjected to hydrogenation, hydride transfer, allylic alkylation, hydrosilylation, hydroboration, hydrovinylation, hydroformylation, olefin metathesis, hydrocarboxylation, isomerization, cyclopropanation, Diels-Alder reaction, Heck reaction It is useful as a catalyst in asymmetric reactions such as, isomerization, Aldol reaction, Michael addition, epoxidation, kinetic decomposition and [m + n] cycloaddition. The metal complexes are particularly useful in Ru-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of beta-ketoesters to beta-hydroxy esters and Ru-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of enamides to beta amino acids. |
