abstract | An object of the present invention is to provide a regularly aligned single-walled carbon nanotube having substantially the same orientation and structure. A plurality of pillars are formed on a substrate by alternately laminating a layer of a first precursor material composed of fullerene molecules and a layer of a second precursor material composed of a catalyst on a substrate. And a step of heating the plurality of pillars 8, and a method of manufacturing a single-walled carbon nanotube. The present invention further includes a step of forming on the substrate 4 a plurality of pillars 8 in which layers of the first precursor material 15 made of fullerene molecules and layers of the second precursor material 16 made of a catalyst are alternately stacked. Provided is a precursor used in a method for producing a wall-type carbon nanotube. A third aspect is a nanotube comprising a substrate 4 and at least one crystal formed on said substrate 4 and comprising a bundle of single-walled carbon nanotubes having substantially the same orientation and structure.
