The disclosed invention relates to a method and an apparatus for separating a mixture containing an aqueous liquid and an immiscible organic phase. Such a mixture is separated into an aqueous phase substantially free of organic phase and an organic phase substantially free of aqueous phase. Productivity is increased by separating an additional organic phase containing only a small amount of aqueous phase as a third product stream. This third product stream may be usefully mixed in some applications with the organic phase substantially free of the aqueous phase. Other productivity enhancements are also disclosed. |
