The present invention provides a method for producing a zeolite having a lattice-substituted heteroatom. The method comprises: (a) contacting the calcined borosilicate zeolite with an acid, thereby producing an at least partially deboronated zeolite; and (b) converting the at least partially deboronated zeolite to an acid. Contacting with a salt-containing aqueous solution containing one or more salts selected from the group consisting of aluminum salts, gallium salts, and iron salts, thereby containing aluminum atoms, gallium atoms, iron atoms, or a combination thereof. Producing a silicate or silicate zeolite having a lattice. Step (b) is performed at a pH of about 3.5 or less. Preferably, step (a), step (b) or both are performed at a temperature from about ambient to about 300 ° C, preferably under agitation / tumbling. |
