abstract The present invention discloses a novel compound, oscillogenin. Oscillogenin is an activator in facilitating fertilization by the sperm of the oocyte or in parthenogenesis of the oocyte. The present specification describes a method of isolating osylogenin to mediate fertilization and enhance nuclear parturition or enhance parthenogenesis of an oocyte in ICSI, and the amount of osylogenin in sperm, and thus the ability of sperm fertilization. Disclosed are methods of using osylogenin to test.
