titleOfInvention | Purification method of polyester precursor |
abstract | Polyester oligomers derived from terephthalic acid and at least one glycol, ie, a diol, are purified, ie, decolorized, by hydrogenating the oligomer to convert colored impurities into colorless compounds, thereby improving the color of the oligomer. A method for purifying a polyester precursor is disclosed. Colored impurities are present in the terephthalic acid used to make the oligomer and are formed during the production of terephthalic acid. Purified / bleached oligomers obtained by the disclosed method can be used to produce high molecular weight polyesters. |
